Thanks, operom. That was really helpful. Smile
Besides, as 15th is a day off, 17th sounds more like it...So I hope we all stay sane for a few more days Laughing

FYI: according to the email that I received from the Traineeship Office (from the worker who is responsible for the trainees from the following countries: EL,CZ,PL,SI,SK) the results should be sent out at the beginning of the next week.

I got the same confirmed from the desk officer for Finland. Damn!

It'll be a very long weekend!!!

Thank you all for sharing the info... it's going to be a long weekend, but hopefully Monday will be a 'good news' day for everyone.
I was wondering if any of you plan to apply for the next traineeship session in case of rejection... For me, it would be the third time, but I haven't decided yet..
Anyhow, best of luck to everyone! Smile

Thank you for your infos! And thank you Aneena for your support!

Regarding Magda's question about reapplying, I wouldn't do it again, at least not for now (it's my second time this time). First I would like to gain some relevant experience and maybe reapply another time in the future. But, I really hope I get lucky this time Smile)

Good luck to everyone on Monday! Smile

I've just opened the e-mail and I was SELECTED...by the Climate Action DG, whom I actually contacted via e-mail (and got no reply). I so didn't expected this! To answer Ioana's question, I am Romanian...but I don't think my nationality was of any importance except for the pre-selection stage. And for the ones who didn't get in this time, try again, be persistent!!! I almost didn't apply because I got rejected for the 2010 October traineeship last summer.

All the best, Alex

P.S. I would also like to thank the creator of this forum. It's quite a useful resource Smile

PostSubject: Re: General Topic   Fri Jan 14, 2011 6:29 pm

I sent a couple of emails to heads of units where I had relevant experience/studies, and that I was interested in.
Just a short email saying I was interested in their unit, stating my relevant experience, and then I attached my cv.
One of the units is working on my dissertation subject, and they basically told me I was selected because they saw my email, and I had what they needed.

It's a bit of an odd system, but I guess it makes the job of some of the smaller units easier, if someone with the right skills emails them. It saves them looking through over 2000 applications in the blue book.

Hope that helps Smile
Good luck with applying again, definitely don't give up! I think at this stage it all comes down to a bit of luck, and trying to sell what you have, to people who might need it.

I wasn't selected I applied for the 4th time and it was my first time when I got to pre-selection. I'm totally broken and I totally envy lucky ones. At the moment I hate the world as we are all rats in this madness race.
In fact I wish I wasn't pre-selected it would save all this stupid hope.

I have to say I'm not too disappointed really. This was my first time applying and I didn't have the most serious approach at the time I had applied but I got preselected anyway. I really wanted to be selected at that time, but in the meantime I got quite a decent job and I'm really not sure if it would be very smart to quit it after just 5 months, so I didn't even bother lobbying and let the things go their way. I guess it would just complicate things a bit too much at the moment. But I'm definitely applying for the next round and see where that takes me. Smile I'm quite optimistic I'll get there some day.

And, yes - congratulations to the selected ones! Have a great time in Bxl! Smile

lol Kate
I understand how you feel.I wasn't selected as well, but I'm lucky because I was accepted at the European Parliament,so I don't care that much now.. otherwise I would probably curse everyone from the selection department Laughing ...what can I say after this experience? I think they put a lot of accent on the prestige of the universities..
Personally, I have two master degrees (Political Sciences and International Business),I speak fluently 5 languages, I have an international background, I lobbied (over 10 mails) ..so I thought I had a strong case there, but still didn't get in..I noticed they have a lot of trainees from Oxford, UCL, LSE,College of Europe ,so even if it's not always the main criteria,it plays a big role
